Dear Council Team / Parks Department,<br/><br/>I am writing to raise a serious concern regarding Spinney Hill Park, which I have enjoyed walking through for over 20 years. It has long been an issue that food is regularly left out to feed the pigeons – often by elderly residents, possibly due to cultural traditions.<br/><br/>However, over the past two weeks, I’ve noticed a significant and disturbing development. Each day, a group of 6 to 7 rats is now feeding openly on this discarded food. Once disturbed, they flee under the nearby waste bins or into the surrounding grass areas.<br/><br/>This situation is deeply unpleasant and raises real concerns about public health. The rats appear increasingly comfortable in the area, and I worry that, if left unchecked, they may spread into nearby residential properties.<br/><br/>I would appreciate urgent action to address this – whether through increased pest control, better signage, or community awareness around feeding wildlife.<br/><br/>Thank you for your attention to this matter.
