Leicester - Eyres Monsell

Description

Good morning, There’s an assortment of tipped rubbish, in plain view and a suitcase, laundry bin etc in the bushes. I’ve cleared what I can reach, but that’s only a metre in I’m afraid.

Can you clarify whether parking in a way that obstructs pedestrian pavements is illegal? Vehicles blocking the pavement force children, disabled people, wheelchair users, and parents with pushchairs into the road and into oncoming traffic, creating a serious safety risk. Parking Enforcement Officers regularly walk past these vehicles without taking any enforcement action or issuing penalty notices. Could you explain why this is happening and what action will be taken to address it? If this type of parking is not illegal or cannot be enforced, perhaps the Council should consider removing the bollards altogether. While this would not be an ideal solution, it would at least allow vehicles to park fully on the road rather than partially on the pavement, improving safety for pedestrians and reducing the need for vulnerable road users to step into traffic.-119 Mere Road, Leicester, UK
