Dear Leicester City Council Parks and Infrastructure Team,

I am writing to report some urgent maintenance issues regarding the footpaths, cycle lanes, and bridge access points at Humberstone Park, Leicester.

As a local resident who regularly uses the park, I have noticed several areas where the tarmac has severely deteriorated, creating significant safety hazards and accessibility barriers for park visitors:

1. Bridge Transitions: There are two bridges over the water where the tarmac at the entry and exit points is badly broken and eroded. This has created steep, uneven lips. It is making it extremely difficult—and in some cases impossible—for wheelchair users, mobility scooters, pushchairs, and prams to get on and off the bridges safely.

2. Cycle Lane / Path Damage: Along the cycle path, the tarmac has ripped, cracked, and buckled significantly (likely due to tree roots). The resulting "up and down" ridges are highly hazardous for cyclists, and present a particular danger to young children who are learning to ride bikes.

I have tried attaching the photographs of the affected areas to this email to help your team locate and assess the damage but unfortunately I keep getting an error message that the file is too big.

Humberstone Park is a highly valued community space, and it is disheartening to see these accessibility barriers preventing elderly, disabled, and young visitors from enjoying it safely. I kindly request that these areas be inspected and scheduled for repair as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time and prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you regarding when these repairs might be undertaken.-Humberstone Park, Uppingham Road, Leicester, LE5 4DR
