Description
Dear LCC,
I am writing this letter to inform you on an ongoing issue prevalent in our nearby park, Humberstone Park.
Recently, we have experienced many rats in our front and back garden, which backs off into the park, alongside our neighbours who have experienced this issue as well.
Having visited the park recently, we were appalled to see numerous loaves of bread and other food scattered around the pathway entering the park, which leads into our garden. In addition to this, we saw many rats feeding on this food and thereby, it is evident that the causation of this rodent issue is directly because of people deliberately leaving food out for them.
Unfortunately, this issue extends beyond the destruction caused to the environment and directly affects our lives. Because of numerous rodents entering our garden, we are unable to enjoy spending time outdoors in our garden and must keep doors closed at all times, in the fear that they may enter our houses. Further, as previously mentioned, all houses on our close are affected by this, with some of our neighbours unable to send their children to play in the park. Therefore, on behalf of us all, we would like to raise awareness to this unchallenged problem.
In order to combat this issue, we ask the following from you to help us.
1. Warning signs around the park to deter people from leaving food.
2. Repercussions such as fines for those caught leaving out food.
3. Potentially clearing up overgrown areas of the park where rodents may linger.
While we understand it is inevitable that rodents may be present in our local park, we very kindly ask for you to enforce the following to improve our living experiences as inhabitants who want to enjoy our local area. Therefore, we would very much appreciate changes to be made to prevent this issue.
I have numerous photos regarding this, but unable to attach more horrific images than this one to this message due to the limited file size.
I hope this message takes utmost priority and is acted upon to come to a final solution.
Thank you for your time.
Yours faithfully,
